To put it bluntly, this music is boring. It's not transcendent in any way. Just some obvious harmonizing and simple repetitive melodies. All of the songs sound the same...you can't tell when they change, you put in the disc, it starts, its over...after what seems like one very long song repeating the same idea over and over again: slow echoey guitars(lots of dingy dangy dingy dangy stuff, you'll know what I mean when you hear it), gets a little louder, quiet, boom, in with the drum rolls, cymbals crashing, louder louder, quiet echoey interlude, louder, a little distortion added in, louder, quiet, ending with some feedback or the usual echo...so on and so forth. It's terribly boring to me. You can tell they are going for a end of the world but its okay sort of vibe. I feel nothing when I hear this. Just guitar twiddlings. It basically takes the whole idea of post-rock, and waters it down to the obvious, using nothing but the usual guitar/drum/bass lineup. None of the depth and uniqueness of bands like Godspeed, Sigur Ros, or even Mogwai is felt here. Fanboys. Not willing to try anything different. And too much echo over and over again! I can't stress this enough. It gets old guys, and this is only one album. They all sound like this! Well, don't listen to me, see for yourselves.
 If I had a soundtrack to my life, I would want these five tracks to be at the top of the playlist July 30, 2008

This entire album is amazing. So simple, yet so complex. These are not just songs; these are emotions in the form of music. There is no need for lyrics when you convey your message with such beautiful instrumentals.

I have recommended this album to many friends, all who agree there is nothing else like it. It has become one of my all-time favorite albums. You need to buy this CD and experience it for yourself without interruptions.

I'm not exaggerating; the compilation on this CD does transcend most music on the 'pop' charts today. Not that this should in any way be considered 'pop'... it's just that it is sooo much better than what we are accustomed to being fed by the media! Beautiful, haunting, inspiring, mysterious, intriguing... this is the second CD I've purchased by Explosions in the Sky and I love both of them.
